MG at Home: The Working From Home Diary

Ruairi Biollo, Client Assistant

Hello All,

With my first day being on the 23rd of March, you’d probably say that I’ve had a relatively unorthodox start to my tenure at MG. I’ve been working for this fine agency for 165 days now and I haven’t done a minute of it in the office. Not one. Having only touched down in the UK in mid-February (I’m from Australia originally), I can’t say that my time in London has gone exactly how I imagined. However, so far, MG have been more than accommodating. I’ve been able to meet some lovely people (albeit over video calls) and get involved in the various WFH activities such as quizzes, online welcome drinks and MG radio.

As you’d expect, starting your first day from home comes with a few side effects. I’ve had very little facetoface time with my lovely Uber team, haven’t had brekky in the café (nor have any idea where the cafe is) and have only heard about the various restaurants and pubs that surround Bankside.

Alternatively, working from home has brought on some real positives! I get to see Robyn Cummins (Ryan Cummins 1 year old) most days via video call which is superb for the mental health, I haven’t had to endure rush hour on the tube yet (heard its trial by fire on the Northern Line) and having moved out recently, I’ve been able to get to know my new housemates more and more. I was also able to meet my team in person not long ago, which ended the 4month long blind date. It was great to put a face to the name (or body to the head I suppose) and get to know the rest of the team outside of the workplace environment.

Overall, WFH has been an upanddown ride but in the grand scheme of things, I’ve got nothing to complain about. Catch you all on the flip side!
