PRIDE 2022 @ MG OMD

What a MONTH!

After spending the last two Pride months behind our screens, it was such a warming feeling to finally celebrate pride together in-person this year. Being the first opportunity for a real-life Pride since lockdown, we wanted to make sure Pride Month 2022 went off with a bang.

We kicked off the fun with our month-long interactive competition in aid of Mermaids. All money raised by MG staff would be very generously matched by MG OMD, doubling the donation for the wonderful charity. Our players had the chance to win some eye-wateringly good prizes, courtesy of some of our fantastic Clients and Media Partners, and thanks to the excellent haul of prizes, we have raised a total of £708.00 – wow!

Visibility Week showcased our Proud employees from across all of Omnicom, and what Pride means to them. For some, it means a safe space, being authentically ourselves, freedom, family & community, the list goes on!

Equality Week saw the return of our “Camp Classics” movie afternoon, a rebooted legacy event that OPEN Pride @ MG have committed to hold on a bi-monthly basis.

Our first showing was the 2014 film appropriately named “Pride”. Based on true events, a group of Gay and Lesbian activists from London, realise they share common foes in Margaret Thatcher, the police and the conservative press, so they banded together to raise money and lend their support to the Welsh miners during the 1984 strike.

Unity Week treated us to an insightful live panel discussion “Unity in the Community: The Voices of LGBTQ+ Faith” with Sarbat Sikhs, Keshet UK, Hidayah LGBTQ & One Body One Faith on the issues they face, the support their faith offers them and what hopes they share for the future.

We then rounded off the month with the grand relaunch of the MG Bar! With the help of our fantastic clients at Pernod Ricard, we were able to pull off the hottest new cocktail bar in Bankside, as well as some very professional cocktail-making masterclasses hosted by the seamless team from Absolut.

We couldn’t have pulled off all of the above successfully without the support from our Clients, Media Partners and (of course) our MGers, so from us to you, a big heartfelt THANK YOU.
